Inbound Links Rule
In SEO inbound linking is of paramount importance. Since the very beginning, the Google algorithm has incorporated the number of inbound links as a very important part of the way they will rank your site. Any good SEO training should emphasize the important of inbound linking.
No other part of any of the engines’algorithm is going to have such a profound and lasting affect on your website. I say lasting, as pertaining to however long the links out there that point to you, remain pointed to you.
The number of links pointing at your site has become the main ingredient as to whether you are going to rank well or not. Take two matching sites, one having lots more inbound links than the other and the one with the most inbounds will be listed better(all other factors being the same). This part of the algorithm is a real factor. What I mean by saying real it is difficult to control this facet of the Google algorithm.
There is no ethical way to control or fool this part of the algorithm. You can work at generating inbounds which will have a great positive affect to your campaign but it is quite difficult to control whether another webmaster will link to your site or not, or to even keep a link to your site live for the forseeable future.
As a webmaster you need to keep in mind the number of, and the quality of, all of the inbound links that are pointed to your site. Do not let a significant amount of time go by where you do not spend time adding new relevant links to your site. Whether it be emailing other webmasters, article marketing, blogging, forum commenting or whatever else may be in your toolbelt, you need to spend time each and every week doing inbound link acquisition.
